Surgeon General Warns Kreator Guitar Solo May Contain 75% Of A Slayer Guitar Solo

just enjoying another spectacular ASS (that’s Another Saturday Snow, to all my DC-area brahs) in anticipation of the forthcoming ASS, I decided to head over to my friend’s place for a get-together. prevailing logic was that this ASS would put a halt to any Saturday nite festivities.

these were the pertinent issues of the day! it’s a well-known fact that 1986-89 Kreator is the best. we were listening to their seminal hit “Under The Guillotine” when my friend noticed a similarity between the guitar solo at around the 2:30 mark and a guitar solo from Slayer’s 1983 chart-topping hit “Evil Has No Boundaries” after listening to both of them, he determined that the Kreator solo contained 75% similar attributes to the Slayer solo. note that, the Kreator tune came out three years after the Slayer release.

in other music news, I heard a Tiamat song that sounded like a Type O Negative song.

we also reviewed stats on the movies he watched in 2009. I made the ballsy prediction that 37% of the movies he would watch this year, would be in HD. that would make for a 9% increase from last year.

we watched some stuff! episode three of the Kids In The Hall “Death Comes To Town” test audiences indicate that this was better than either of the first two episodes. the new Archer was good too.

the feature attraction was the animated film Ponyo written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, who you might remember from such films as Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away. this was the Japanese version (with English subtitles)

it’s the timeless story of two 5 year-olds searching for love. when Sousuke finds a fish named Ponyo trapped in a jar, how could he know he would eventually find the love of his life-life-life?!? he cuts his finger, she licks the blood, healing the wound. she evolves in to a human, and yearns to be with Sousuke. but the stars are falling, and only he can save the world. if he fails, Ponyo turns in to sea foam, and global warming will wipe out of all life-life-life, just as Al Gore predicted…

Haha, excellent post as always, John. Those solos really are 75% similar! I’d say the usual similarity between 2 thrash metal solos is more like 2% max! Ponyo was good too!
