Playoff Beard FAIL!!!

it’s so fucking difficult to be a sports fan in the DC area…
the Redskins haven’t done much since the first Joe Gibbs era
the Wizards are perenially bad
the Nats haven’t been good since July 4th weekend…of 2005
DC United is good, but no one follows soccer, so u know

this was the year DC was finally going to get another championship…the Caps finished with a franchise best 54 wins…a franchise best 121 points…the best record in the league…their first ever Presidents Trophy…they were the highest-scoring team in the league…they had one of the best power plays all season…they went 4-0 in games I attended…

they had a 3-1 series lead over the #8 seed Canadiens…they dominated in every statistical category, except one…Miroslav Halak took over in game 5, and it was all over…the power play that was so dominant in the regular season went 1-for-32 in the series…the Caps became the first #1 seed to lose to a #8 seed, after being up 3 games to 1…

this really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who follows the Caps. this was the fourth time in franchise history they’ve blown a 3-1 series lead. Ovechkin ended up with almost as many shots on goal, as he had shots blocked. guys like Alex Semin and Mike Green, who made huge contributions to the regular season success, failed to show up in crunch time.

the only thing that pissed me off more about the way this season ended, was watching the post-game show where every Caps fan was texting in about “it was a great season” and “next year is our year” BLAH BLAH BLAH! I believe Jason Chimera put it best when asked to sum up the Caps season “we didn’t accomplish our goal, it was a pretty shitty season!”

oh, did I say I was a Caps fan? mmm, yeah, I meant to say Flyers. I’m gonna hafta ask you to go ahead and clear out all your Ovechkin bobblehead dolls, so we can make room for my collection of Scott Hartnell perm wigs. So, if you could just do that for us, that would be great, OK, thanks.
