I Got A Little Verklempt Watching Edge Announce His Retirement

I knew Edge was going to retire next year, but injuries have expedited those plans. he came out in street clothes, at the top of the 10 o’clock hour, to make it official. he said that he had been wrestling on borrowed time, ever since he broke his neck in 2003. he underwent a two-level spinal fusion of the discs between his C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae. continuing to wrestle after the surgery, resulted in spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spine, which caused less and less of the vital fluid needed to protect the spine. he was suffering from numbness and uncontrollable shaking in his arms and hands. MRI tests confirmed that any further wrestling, could potentially result in paralysis, or even death. 13 years, 11 world title reigns, and one week after successfully defending the WHC against Alberto Del Rio, at WrestleMania, Edge called it a career. it’s sad to see one of the best of his generation hang up his boots for good. at least he leaves at the top of his game, and he won’t hafta spend the rest of his days in a wheelchair. thank you, Edge! it’s been a real pleasure watching you over the years. perhaps, he’ll be back next year, when they induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame…
