it was a rare Saturday off, and it was spectacular! started the day in Gaithersburg, setting up some Samsung tvs for my friend. we gorged ourselves on some Costco thin-crust pizzas and pierogies. washed it down with two glasses of wine, and two Coronas.
later that nite, I had my first ever grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich! Elvis Presley was on to something, boy, I tell u whut! put some butter in a pan, place sandwich in pan, let sandwich soak up butter, 700 calories of pure awesomeness! I caught the itis shortly afterwards.
we watched four episodes of Adventure Time:
Death In Bloom – when Finn & Jake kill Princess Bubblegum’s plant, they must go to the underworld, to reclaim it’s soul.
Susan Strong – Finn & Jake defend the Candy Kingdom aginst a group of half-CHUDs, half-Furries.
Mystery Train – Finn & Jake solve a murder mystery on a train.
Go With Me – Finn enlists the help of Marcelline, The Vampire Queen, in order to woo Princess Bubblegum.
“Off The Air: Animals” is a compilation of stock footage from old [adult swim] shows, but only 10x weirder than anything you’d normally see on [adult swim] it opened with footage of a bald eagle pushing a billy goat off a cliff. you can hear the goat wailing, as it descends towards it’s death. the eagle flies off to let his brahs know that dinner is ready. a lot of trippy animation follows. to quote Dickie Moist “I can’t even describe it!”
we watched an episode of Portlandia:
Blunderbuss – a struggling musician gets her big break; Selma Blair stars in “Finding Mr. Write” a new romantic comedy from The Warnicker Brothers, Gus Van Sant leads Q & A session, at the film’s screening; The Decemberists are waiting for a hotel room
we watched two episodes of Check It Out with Dr. Steve Brule:
Fear – Steve confronts his fear of puppets; David Liebe Hart and Tim & Eric (as Jan & Wayne Skylar) make cameos.
Friendship – Steve goes to a gay bar, in search of some new friends.
we watched two episodes of Food Party:
Eggcino Man – Thu breaks an egg, and releases a wizard. there was one part, in particular, where it seemed like they were totally ad-libbing the dialogue (moreso than usual)
Ad Lib Episode – this reminded me a lot of the Xavier: Renegade Angel episode, where they used fan-generated content. at one point, I forgot we were watching Food Party. the ad for 1-666 Sprinkle, had a woman with blonde hair covering her face, and what sounded like a variation of the keyboard riff to Nine Inch Nails “Closer” I immediately thought of Trent Reznor and Courtney Love.
the viewing selection was culled mostly from shows I wouldn’t necessarily put in our list labeled HEAVY ROTATION but they were all really good. possibly the best run (and definitely most morbid) of Adventure Time. Check It Out is great, simply b/c I can never tell if the extras they use are actors, or just playing themselves. with one episode still to watch (six total), the Portlandia was the best I’ve seen so far. Food Party is just so fuckin’ bizarre, I can’t believe IFC canceled the show! I’d be remisced if I didn’t mention the Transformers porn mp3s we listened to. Did You Know? Starscream also served as Megatron’s bottom bitch.
I wish I had more Saturdays off, 11 out of 10!!!
