CM Punk: Do It For The IWC!!!

the last three weeks of RAW have produced some of the best WWE television, since the days of the Attitude Era. when CM Punk cut that epic promo, claiming that he was leaving WWE with the championship, on the last nite of his contract, ppl took notice. while conventional wisdom, says that Punk has re-signed, there’s a small part of me that thinks he could still walk. just think how awesome it would be if Punk defended the WWE title at a ROH show!

Money In The Bank is taking place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, so u can bet the crowd will be fuckin’ bonkers! the stipulation with Cena being fired, if Punk leaves with the title, makes me think Cena will retain. BUT, what if Punk beats Cena, only to have the winner of RAW’s MITB ladder match, cash in his contract, and beat Punk. it’s a swerve that’s already been done before, but no one believes for one second that Cena will be “fired” either way, I’m more interested in Punk-Cena than I was in this year’s WrestleMania.

Punk’s love of the business means that he will do whatever Vince asks of him for the duration of his contract, b/c he’s a team player. maybe Punk is burned out by WWE’s hectic schedule, and Punk is 100% correct when he says he has been misused and underappreciated. if Sunday is indeed his final match with WWE, I expect Punk will pull out all the stops, and carry Cena to one of the best matches of his career. as much as I want Punk to win, I pick Cena to retain. but I leave the door open for Alberto Del Rio to cash in his MITB contract and walk out WWE champion.

here are my BOLD ASS predictions for MITB. winners in BOLD, of course:

Alberto Del Rio, Alex Riley, R-Truth, The Miz, Rey Mysterio, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne – The Miz and Swagger have already won MITB; Kingston and Bourne are just filling spots; A-Rye is on his way up, but will benefit more from continuing to feud with The Miz; R-Truth’s push is over; Mysterio is on his way out; ADR might be the reigning champion on Smackdown, if Edge didn’t hafta retire.

Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, Kane, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Sin Cara – Sheamus and Barrett will end up taking each other out; Sin Cara is a great talent, but needs more time to adapt to the WWE style of wrasslin’; Bryan is good, but he’s not a Vince guy; Kane winning a ladder match is not believeable; Slater and Gabriel are there to fill spots; Cody Rhodes is the guy who has been on the verge of breaking into the main event, for quite some time now. he is a future world champion, who’s time has arrived!

Randy Orton vs. Christian – as much as I like Christian, I’m tired of seeing him lose to Randy Orton. this will be the 4th consecutive pay per view Orton will go over on him. Christian is a great talent, but nothing more than a placeholder champion.

Mark Henry vs. Big Show – Mark Henry is in the midst of his biggest push since he held the ECW title in the Summer of 2008. this match will be about as well-paced as the epic clash between the Ultimate Warrior and Hercules at WrestleMania IV.

Kelly Kelly vs. Brie Bella – first title reign for Kelly Kelly, who benefits from Kharma’s pregnancy. twin magic’s kinda played out.

United States champion, Dolph “ZZ” Ziggler, and Intercontinental champion, Ezekiel Jackson, both left off the card?!? tag team titles aren’t scheduled to be defended, either. oh wait, does WWE even have a tag team division?
