Beavis and Butt-Head Re-Birthening

the show that made it totally suck to listen to Winger is back! after a 14-year hiatus, Beavis and Butt-Head returns tonite on MTV. they are still decked out in their Metallica and AC/DC t-shirts, only this time, they hafta pay the bands. MANG, WASSUPWITDAT?!? instead of lampooning music videos, they will be mocking reality shows. this is b/c they are now required to get advance permission, before using music videos.

“It used to be that we could do anything,” Judge said, in an interview with Rolling Stone. “Now we have to clear everything. We were going to do a Kanye West video – he wanted it on, and then somebody who owns, like, six percent of the songwriting said no.”

Beavis and Butt-Head started out in 1992, as an animated short entitled “Frog Baseball” on Liquid Television. the series ran for 200 episodes from 1993-1997. they also did the blockbuster smash-hit film Beavis and Butt-Head Do America (co-starring Demi Moore and Bruce Willis)

Mike Judge went on to do King of the Hill, which aired for 13 seasons on FOX. he is also responsible for a coupla cult classic movies: 1999’s Office Space, and 2006’s Idiocracy

back in the day, me and my friends would imitate Beavis and Butt-Head. usually I would be Beavis, b/c they used to like to call me dumbass, and make jokes about my mom. I had their t-shirts, buttons, dolls, edible underwear. u name it, I had it.

in the pantheon of animated shows, it would be somewhere in my top 5. I will have a full review of their re-launch episode this weekend. as of right now, I am cautiously optimistic…
