The Worst-Kept Secret In Wrasslin’: The Return Of Y2J

the worst-kept secret in pro wrasslin’ was that Chris Jericho was the man behind the “It Begins” promos that had been popping up on RAW the past few months. he returned in the segment, prior to the main event. unfortunately, he did nothing more than play up the crowd for almost ten minutes. taking the mic to pretend like he was gonna cut a promo, and instead he runs laps around ringside hi-fiving the crowd. u could definitely hear some boos from the crowd, as he left the ring. his over-the-top face antics can only mean there’s a big-ass heel swerve coming.

Daniel Bryan vs. Cody Rhodes – Vinman is intent on proving that Daniel Bryan is nothing more than a fluke champion. having Bryan cash in his MITB briefcase at TLC, against an unconscious Big Show, makes him look weak. esp. after he talked about how he was gonna cash in at WrestleMania. he got in some good offense, but Cody had the better run. Bryan wins with a small package. Michael Cole’s constant burying of Bryan is delegitimizing Bryan’s run as world champion, and is starting to have a negative effect on WWE, as a whole.

Wade Barrett vs. Santino Marella – Barrett talks about how 2012 is off to a great start, b/c it is Randy Orton-free. he talks about how he will win the Royal Rumble (I agree!) Santino comes out for a comedy squash match. he mentions that he lasted longer than Barrett, in last year’s Rumble match. conversely, their promo lasted longer than their match.

The Miz vs. Shemaus – match never officially gets underway as Miz attacks Sheamus before the ref calls for the bell. Miz is worried about R-Truth pulling another sneak attack, so he tries to escape thru the crowd. Truth is waiting for him, and chases him back toward the ring. Sheamus lays Miz out with a Brogue Kick. Truth continues the beatdown with his patented water bottle to the head.

CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler – the second week in a row Johnny Laryngitis has caught Punk a match against Ziggler. Punk has Ziggler tapping out in the Anaconda Vice, but Laryngitis has the referee replace an exposed turnbuckle. Laryngitis is still on the apron, when Ziggler throws Punk into the ropes. Laryngitis ducks, lowering the ropes, causing Punk to spill to the outside, where he is counted out. Laryngitis announces he will be the special guest referee for Punk vs. Ziggler at the Royal Rumble.

The Bella Twins vs. Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres – typical divas match, nothing to see here. the Bellas win with some twin magic, for the umpteenth time.

John Cena, Zack Ryder, and Big Show vs. Kane, Jack Swagger, and Mark Henry – they announce Kane refuses to participate in the match. Show and Henry are eliminated via double-countout. Cena pins Swagger for the win. Kane’s music hits, and Cena bolts up the ramp to meet him. Kane comes up thru the ring, and they exchange blows. Kane attempts to drag Ryder thru the hole in the ring, but Cena makes the save. pyro shoots up thru the ring, as Cena and Ryder look on in disbelief to end the show.

is the IWC starting to get tired of Zack Ryder, now that he’s finally won the United States title? I still don’t see the appeal in Ryder, but I appreciate the fact that he’s gotten as far as he has, with very little help from the booking committee.

Cena vs. Kane will culminate in a 1-on-1 match at the Rumble, but everyone already knows Cena will go over, with Rock looming on the horizon. I just hope they don’t make Kane look too weak in defeat.

for the second year in a row, Dolph “ZZ” Ziggler will get a world title shot at the Rumble. he is a bona fide main eventer, and arguably the best heel on RAW. don’t know if it will translate into a win at the Rumble, but he’ll get a title run at some point this year.

Johnny Laryngitis said that Brodus Clay will debut next week, cue the crickets.

Y2J will probably be one of the 30 entrants in the Rumble match. I wouldn’t mind seeing him face the Undertaker at Mania. it sounds a lot more appealing than Taker-HHH, for a third time.
